Accuracy & Data Review Policy

Valid Wireless Services publishes independent informational content about Lifeline eligibility, wireless providers, device availability, application processes and consumer safety. This policy explains how we check factual claims, how often time-sensitive information is reviewed, how we handle conflicting sources, and what readers should verify before acting.

Quick Answer

We prefer official program, regulator and provider sources for material claims. We distinguish stable program rules from changing offers, device inventory, fees and coverage. A displayed review date should represent a meaningful check of material information, not an automatic date change.

What This Policy Covers

  • Lifeline eligibility rules, household limits and annual income thresholds.
  • Provider participation, plans, data allowances, fees and service terms.
  • Phone, iPhone, tablet, SIM and bring-your-own-device availability.
  • Coverage, network and state-specific information.
  • Application, shipping, activation and support information.
  • Consumer warnings, corrections and material updates.

Source Priority

For federal Lifeline rules, we prioritize USAC, LifelineSupport.org and applicable FCC materials. For state-specific processes, we check the relevant public utility commission, state administrator or other official state source when a separate process applies. For provider-specific facts, we prioritize the provider’s current plans, terms, help center, coverage, BYOD, application and support pages.

Search snippets, AI-generated summaries, copied competitor wording, anonymous social posts, affiliate claims and old cached offers are not treated as sufficient proof for a material factual claim when a more authoritative source is available.

Review Frequency and Freshness

Different facts change at different speeds. Our published source standards use the following review approach:

  • Federal eligibility programs and household rules: reviewed at least quarterly and when USAC or FCC guidance changes.
  • Federal income limits: reviewed when annual income guidance is updated.
  • Provider plans, terms, fees and coverage: reviewed periodically, generally every 30 to 60 days for material provider pages, and sooner when a known change occurs.
  • Device models, inventory and promotions: checked before a material update because availability may change quickly.
  • Application, shipping and activation information: reviewed when provider workflows or published policies change.
  • Consumer warnings: checked against current regulator and provider information when a new alert or material issue is identified.

Eligibility and Income Information

Eligibility information is written as general consumer information, not as an applicant-specific decision. Valid Wireless Services does not access the National Verifier, state eligibility systems, provider account systems or private applicant records. Final eligibility is determined by the applicable official process.

Income limits and qualifying programs may change. When an annual threshold or program rule is material to a page, we aim to check the current official source and state the applicable year or scope.

Provider, Device and Offer Claims

Provider offers can vary by state, ZIP code, plan, inventory and enrollment date. A provider advertising a phone, iPhone, tablet or promotion does not mean that every applicant is offered the same device or price. We avoid presenting changing inventory, approval speed, shipping time or promotional pricing as permanent guarantees.

Coverage maps and network claims are also subject to local conditions, device compatibility, congestion and provider terms. Readers should confirm current coverage and offer details directly with the provider before applying or paying.

State-Specific Information

Federal Lifeline rules provide a baseline, but state administration and additional state programs may differ. We do not treat a national statement as automatically applicable to every state. When a state has a separate process or material exception, the relevant official state source should be checked.

Conflicting or Incomplete Sources

When reliable sources disagree, we should not silently choose the more attractive claim. We prefer the source with direct authority over the issue and a current dated rule or terms page over older marketing copy. If the conflict cannot be resolved reliably, the page should be qualified, delayed or corrected rather than presented with false certainty.

AI-Assisted Tools and Human Editorial Responsibility

AI-assisted tools may support research organization, drafting, comparison or technical publishing. They are not treated as the final authority for eligibility, provider terms, device inventory or other material facts. Published responsibility remains with the Valid Wireless Editorial Team, which uses the site’s source, review and correction standards.

Corrections and Material Updates

Readers, providers and public agencies may report a factual issue, broken source or material update. A useful correction request should identify the page URL, the disputed statement and a current supporting source. Material errors are reviewed against reliable evidence and may result in a correction, clarification or updated page.

What We Do Not Claim

  • We do not guarantee Lifeline eligibility or approval.
  • We do not guarantee a particular phone, iPhone, tablet, network, delivery date or provider outcome.
  • We do not claim access to private government or provider databases.
  • We do not use fictional author credentials or invented first-person experience as evidence.
  • We do not treat an update date as proof that every fact on a page changed that day.
